FAQ

  • What is Liora Health?
Liora Health is a Georgia-based telehealth clinic focused on medical weight loss using GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide. We provide personalized care through virtual visits and affordable access to effective treatments.
  • Do you serve patients outside of Georgia?
Currently, Liora Health is only available to patients who live in Georgia. As a Georgia-licensed provider, I can only prescribe and provide care to residents of this state. If you’re located outside of Georgia, feel free to check back in the future as I may expand into other states.
  • Do I need to come into an office for appointments?
No. All visits are conducted virtually, allowing you to receive care from anywhere in Georgia.
  • Do you accept insurance?
Liora Health is a cash-pay practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. While that may sound surprising at first, this approach is often more affordable than going through insurance. Many patients find that insurance plans either: Do not cover weight loss medications like GLP-1s, or Require months of prior authorizations, denials, and appeals before approval. Even when insurance does cover, out-of-pocket costs can still be very high. For example: A patient with insurance might be charged $1,000–$1,300 per month for brand-name GLP-1s at the pharmacy counter. At Liora Health, compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide with medical supervision typically costs a fraction of that price (often under $400 per month, including your provider visits and ongoing support). However, you may be able to use HSA or FSA funds for your care—check with your benefits provider.
  • How much is the membership?
Membership pricing depends on the medication and dose: - Semaglutide: $299–$395/month - Tirzepatide: $335–$565/month Prices vary based on the dose required. We aim to keep you on the lowest effective dose that supports safe, steady weight loss of 1–2 pounds per week.
  • What is included in the membership?
Your monthly membership includes: - Four week supply of compounded GLP-1 medication delivered to your home - Ongoing dose titration and clinical monitoring - Quarterly telehealth follow-up visits - Unlimited secure messaging with your provider - Should you qualify and decide to become a member, your initial consultation fee will be applied to the first month's membership Basic lab work is highly recommended to ensure safe and effective treatment. Lab fees are not included in your membership and are paid directly to the lab company. Review of lab results is included in your membership.
  • What are GLP-1 medications?
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medications are a class of prescription drugs that help regulate appetite, improve blood sugar control, and support weight loss. They work by mimicking a natural hormone in the body that targets areas in the brain involved in appetite and food intake. These medications slow stomach emptying, increase feelings of fullness, and reduce hunger—making it easier to eat less and make healthier choices. At Liora Health, we prescribe GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide (Ozempic®, Wegovy®) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro®, Zepbound®) as part of a medically guided weight loss plan tailored to your individual needs.
  • What are compounded GLP-1 medications?
We prescribe compounded versions of GLP-1s from licensed U.S. pharmacies. These formulations may include additional ingredients like B12 or glycine. These additions can help mitigate side effect such as fatigue and muscle loss. We will tailor the compounded medication to your needs. While not FDA-approved, they are commonly used under medical supervision in weight loss care.
  • What are the common side effects?
Typical side effects include nausea, fatigue, constipation, or decreased appetite. Most improve with time and dose adjustments.
  • Do I need to stay on the medication forever?
No, you do not need to stay on the medication long-term. Once you have reached your goal weight, we will work with you to safely taper off the medication. If you prefer to remain on a low maintenance dose to help maintain your progress, we can discuss that option as well.
  • How do I get started?
Book your initial virtual consultation on our website. We’ll review your health history, discuss your goals, and create your personalized treatment plan.
  • Do I need labs before starting?
Basic labs are highly recommended to ensure your treatment is safe and tailored to your needs. If you don’t have recent lab results, we’ll help you order them. Lab costs are not included in your membership and are paid directly to the lab provider.
  • Can I contact my provider between visits?
Yes. Your membership includes secure messaging access, allowing you to reach your provider with questions, concerns, or progress updates. Most issues can be addressed through messaging, but if your needs require more in-depth time and consideration, you’re welcome to schedule an additional consultation.
  • How much are the labs?
As long as you go to a labcorp center, your lab draw for a complete metabolic panel will be less than $25.
